Spruce wood, derived from Norway spruce (Picea abies), is the most widely used softwood species for construction in Belgium and one of the most popular timber types worldwide. It is relatively affordable, easy to work with, and has an attractive light white to yellowish colour.

Untreated spruce wood, with durability class 4, is ideal for interior applications. It is widely used for structural carpentry, such as studs and battens for floors, walls and roof structures. It is also excellently suited for finishing work such as floor, wall and ceiling cladding.
